Description

This mysterious bust of Plato, identified through the text on its base and the facial expression, is a modern adaption of an original by the name of 'Dionysus-Plato', a Hellenistic bronze from Herculaneum.

People of power were often depicted as gods, less so philosophers of the time. This work, depicting Plato with long hair, is a fusion of both the philosopher and Dionysus, the wine god.
