On September 20, 2019, Cults3D was contacted by the LEGO group with multiple takedown requests. This was quickly followed by a large number of models being removed from other sites such as Thingiverse and MyMiniFactory. By this action, LEGO has clearly shown that they don't want the maker community producing derivatives of their bricks.

Kragleblocks are intended to act as a replacement to LEGO bricks in the maker community. They are easily printed, and, with a little tuning, have the same consistent clutch power as the injection molded bricks that is so hard to replicate with 3D printing.

Note that Kragelblocks are much smaller than your standard LEGO brick, measuring only 5mm per block. I've added photos showing this in detail.

Kragelblocks are liscenced under CC-BY-NC-SA. This means that you may not sell Kragelblocks or any derivative thereof. If you want permission to sell these, you can send me a message and we'll try to work something out. Also, whenever this design is showcased on a webpage, I (Ender3Guy) must be named as the designer. Finally, any derivatives of this work must be shared under the same license.

PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS

I recommend that you start with printing 3-4 Kragelblocks. This will set you back about five cents and allow you to determine the appropriate clutch power. In the case that it is too loose, try increasing your extrusion multiplier. If it is too tight, try reducing your multiplier.

If you can't get the top and bottom of the bricks to grip evenly, you may have to open the included .step file. Try using a press pull to slightly increase or decrease the diameter of the studs before saving.

Note that Kragelblocks will be easier than your standard LEGO brick to print due to the inclusion of special tabs which stand out from the inside of the brick and grab onto the stud precisely in the right places.

REMIXING

Included with the design are .step files of every brick. The .step file also includes a drag-and-drop system by which you can make 2-stud wide bricks of any length. To make 1-stud bricks, just place as many 1x1s as you need and then join them by extruding them.

I've also added .dxf files for 1x1, 2x2 and 2x3 bricks. Note that these .dxf files have not been adjusted for tolerances at the side of bricks, so I suggest that you use either an Extrude or a Press/Pull to add tolerances of 0.1mm around the exterior sides of the brick once you have extruded it from the sketch.

And lastly, Kragleblocks are designed with easy modification in mind. The standard unit is 5mm with your average stud being half that. If you have the time to look around in the .step files you'll notice that everything has easy-to-use dimensions.
