OPENING OF PROSTHESIS
OPENING OF PROSTHESIS

Currently, hundreds of people with disabilities around the world are lucky enough to have a free prosthesis like this thanks to the organization ATOMIC_LAB.
The current prosthesis only allows a short movement of the arm to articulate the hand, but the user is limited to a very short movement practically with the prosthesis at a 90 ° angle. I noticed this when I was assigned to volunteer to print a prosthesis. I was not satisfied with the result, since the person who benefits from this prosthesis was an adult who develops work activities. Then, in a practical way, after several designs, I managed to add some small pieces that successfully fulfilled the objective.
Then, providing a small grain of sand, I designed these small pieces that are added to the standard prosthesis, significantly increasing the opening angle of the arm, facilitating the control and adding a more natural and fluid movement to those who use it.
The pieces fit perfectly in both the right arm and the left, you should only take into account when printing, the scalar with the same size in which the prosthesis was printed so that it fits without difficulty.
Here you can better appreciate the movement of the BEFORE and the AFTER.
In this link you can see David, premiering his prosthesis with the new update.
To ensure good mechanical strength, the parts should be printed in the position of the .stl files.
For the route to be completed, an elastic band must be installed as illustrated in the last photo (2).
This is my small contribution to continue helping thousands of people who want to achieve their dreams.
3D printing settings
The size of the pieces is very small, so I recommend a filling of more than 50%.
Wall thickness: 1.2mm
Plate adhesion: edge
Layer height: less than 0.17mm
Support: only the file called PIN.stl
Printing speed: no more than 60mm/s
Temperature: according to preferred material PLA or PETG
