This has been some what of a finishing a dream project for me. i first tried to make metal gear rex back when everyone played it on the PS1. on a copy of 3Dmax r3 (very long time ago). now in my late 20s ive finaly realised the dream. ive made metal gear REX.
The model is fully articulated and is relativly easy to Print. this was made on a Starrt 3D printer (yea the $99 printer made this). so im expecting great things from this community when it comes to showing off your prints. and please do i would love to see them.
I owuld reccomend printing it a little larger than i have if you can for strength and to see that glorious detail. also as i will state in the print tips
PRINT THE JOINTS FIRST
if you cant get those to work then youll either have to settle for a model that wont stand on its own or will just fall appart. the ball and cups need to be tight enough to support themselves and their attached parts. but not so tight they break the ball off. so experiment before you print the big parts.
I will try and cobble together the making of video but for now enjoy the model. and any problems please contact me. ill do my best to help.

FIND AND PRINT ALL THE JOINTS FIRST!!!!!
I can not stress this enough, the key to this model is the ball joint and cup system is uses, you will need to print and test those first. all the cups are the same but you will need to print 7 but i reccomend printing 10.
i also found using a lighter to heat treat the joints makes them stronger. just be careful not to melt it too much.
everything esle will require sanding and drilling to work but it should be fairly ovbious what needs to happen. if you get stuck leave me a message.
