This large Roman style Sphinx originates from Rome and was created around 120-140 BC. It is believed that this marble sculpture was originally used as a leg or support for a large table. This particular sphinx is located in the House of the Faun in Pompeii, though many other variants exist around the world.
This object is part of "Scan The World".
