This is my contribution for a entry in the MakeShaper contest !
Do you want to protect your tapestries and walls that are well painted or covered with a beautiful effect coating when you tinker? This unique object has been thought to dampen the shock of the drill when you drill a hole and the material gives way! Most of the time, you have a bigger than expected, not very round, or a mark on what was a beautiful wall. But here you have a light, a shelf or a beautiful object of deco and you wanted to go faster than reason; and then, the plasterboard, the brick or the blocks, it's really not solid!
But rest assured, with this concept of protection to tinker cleanly, they are bad memories. With your 3D printer Wanhao Duplicator i3 mounted with a beautiful extrusion Flex and a flexible flexible filament like Makeshaper, you will be able to make the series of protections you need:
there are the .stl files for the drill bits with the following diameters:
4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 20, 25 mm.
In the compressed file "Drilling WALL SAVER_Sources and goodies.zip", there are also tools for diameter 7, 9 and 11mm.
And there is especially the file .f3d usable in AutoDesk Fusion 360, which will allow you to generate the protection tool according to the diameter of your wick (greater than 4mm) by changing a single rib: the one which is clearly indicated (" Modidy Drilling bit diameter ") in sketch 1 which must be edited (see photo). Enter the diameter of your wick and the software will do all the rest, export in .stl, print, here is !
That's all the power and interest of 3D printing: customizing your object, whether your units are mm, inch, or any other measurement.
You can even use these protections in your cabinetmaking work when making your own furniture.
I wish you good work, no bad surprise!

The .f3d source file (Autodesk Fusion 360) I placed in a compressed (.zip) file is not supported by the platform. If you wish, I can send it to you by email on request from you. Sincerely, MoreAnge
