A clevis tool set consisting of two tools, designed to assist threading “2-56” or “2 mm” nylon clevises onto the end of standard threaded RC pushrods which are used on many mid-size models. The difference between the 2 tools is that the clevis is held on a different end of the tool.
The tools are easily 3D printed, without any support, on a modern inexpensive 3D Printer. They can be printed with a variety of materials, including PLA, PETG, ABS and many other types of printable materials.
PLA works well for this application. It is easy to print, durable, easy to maintain, and should last for a long time. However, the tools should not be stored or kept at high temperature, exceeding ~55 C (~ 130 F).
Should the tools be left in a high temperature environment, such as a parked car in the summer, I strongly recommend using another heat tolerant material, such as PETG or ABS to prevent warping.
The orange colored one in the pictures are made with generic ABS and printed on a Prusa i3-MK2s 3D printer. I have used them since 2018 without any issues. I have another set in my workshop made with PLA that is working just as well.
Recommended print settings with a .4 mm nozzle:
- Layer Hight: .150 ~.160 mm, depending on motors and gearing
- 3 perimeters or shells (1.2 ~ 1.5 mm)
- 8 bottom layers (1.2 ~ 1.3 mm)
- 8 top layers (1.2 ~ 1.3 mm)
- Infill 20~30%, depending on infill type
