A revised bracket designed to hold an adjustable shelf in a bookcase or a kitchen cabinet with ¼” (~6mm) diameter hight adjustment holes. The peg spacing is 1 ¼” (~31.8mm). This seems to be the North American standard, since I can use this bracket design to replace the old, worn-out brackets that came with my bookcases and kitchen cabinets.
The part can be easily 3D printed, without any support, on a modern inexpensive 3D Printer. It can be printed with a variety of materials, including PLA, PETG, ABS and many other types of printable materials.
PLA works very well for this application. It is easy to print. The object should be durable, easy to maintain, and last for a long time.
However, it should not be stored or kept at high temperature, exceeding ~55 C (~ 130 F).
Recommended print settings with a .4 mm nozzle
- Layer Hight: .150 ~.160 mm, depending on motors and gearing
- 3 perimeters or shells (1.2 ~ 1.5 mm)
- 8 bottom layers (1.2 ~ 1.3 mm)
- 8 top layers (1.2 ~ 1.3 mm)
- Infill 15%~20%, depending on infill type
Assembly Instructions
Note: 4 brackets are required to install 1 shelf.
Insert the brackets in the hight adjustment holes at the desired shelf hight, on both sides. The pegs are purposely sized to fit tight. If it is too difficult to insert the pegs in the holes, slightly bore out the holes to ¼” (~6mm) using a drill and appropriate bit.
Gently lower the shelf on top of the brackets.
