Description
This marble figure, a copy from The British Museum, represents a lion with its mouth open, crouching to spring. The bristling manes are arrange din a series of locks in parallel rows.
The work might be associated with the Nereid Monument as they appear stylistically earlier in date. It originates from Xanthus, created around 400 BC
