These fidget spinners are for the TinkerCAD x MyMiniFactory design competition.
These fidget spinners are called Fidget Nets because they have to be strung with string to suspend the middle bearing. I used blue thread and fishing line for mine, but any material lie that shold work (string, thread, yarn, fishing line, paracord, cooked spaghetti, etc.) I threaded mine in a regular outward fashion, but any pattern of the designs should work as long as the middle bearing is suspended. Have fun trying out different combinatons of materials, patterns, and colors! Also make sure to post pictures of what you have made, I'm really curious what you guys come up with.
I would suggest to not use a brim for the Wave and Lace patterns, as they are very hard to clean off because of all of the folds in the design. A brim might help in the Plain and Proto models, though.
Heavier materials, such as metal filaments, would be better in any fidget spinner to give it more mass. However, I only had PLA, ABS, and flexible TPU, and the spinners spin for a reasonable amount of time if used with a good bearing.
Flexible filaments aren't recommended because the string has to be held under some tension, but this hasn't been tested and you might be able to get away with a stiffer flexible material.
