Some time-lapse of the process and footage of the finished model:
After posting the Spring Bunny model I got a request to make it into an egg holder. As it happens I was just in process of modeling a wicker basket and experimenting with 3D printed grass, so I decided to implement them to create this egg holder.
Everything is printed and support free, the grass part is takes a long time (8 hours for me) but is still faster than growing it! In fact that's where the idea came from, I wanted to do another Easter release but in time before Easter. Since there's still no grass outside here, 3D printing offered a solution to this problem. However I have also included a base if you want to try growing your own easter grass on it instead.
At least in Simplify3D you have to allow single walls at Advanced settings tab under Thin Wall Behaviour to print the grass.
For Cura similar setting that should be enabled is "Shell" - "Print Thin Walls"
It's meant to be printed with 0.2mm layers. After printing you remove the supports and cut the grass from the thinner wall's end with scissors. Then you can apply heat VERY carefully to the ends of the grass to have them sag a bit for more natural effect.
The egg can be printed without infill. Nothing special with the rest.

Absolutely fantastic. Printed this to take to my elderly grandmother at her assisted living home. I think she will really enjoy it and hopefully it will be a conversation piece for her and the nurses. Thank you so much!
